In physics, a shock wave (additionally spelled shockwave), or shock, is a kind of propagating disturbance. When a wave strikes quicker than the native velocity of sound in a fluid it’s a shock wave. Like an odd wave, a shock wave carries power, and may propagate by means of a medium; nevertheless it’s characterised by an abrupt, almost discontinuous change in strain, temperature and density of the medium.
